Flames of War Hobby League - Week 4

We're nearing the end of our first month for our Flames of War Hobby League! Pretty soon we'll have enough to put together a small tournament. I've been chatting with Greg over at TCOW and we'll see if we can arrange a meetup and get everyone together for a battle of the Leagues. By the way, we're totally crushing those wannabes out west, so keep up the good work on your armies!

Ian's been hard at work adding reinforcements to his infantry in the form of 6pdr anti-tank guns, 3" mortars, and an angry piper:








Mike's US Rangers

This week I finally finished my FFI/FTP platoon. These partisans should be useful for holding ground or harassing the enemy. They are the perfect historical fit for my Brittany campaign Rangers, who used the French partisans to bulk out their numbers.


I also started work on my M3 75mm GMC assault guns. I originally painted these in 2007 to take with my mid-war cav recon squadron. I took them to a tournament in Vancouver and really loved how they played; not so much as tank-hunters, but as assault guns. They've fallen into disrepair over the last decade, so it's time to bring them back to the land of the living!


These were unique to the Rangers and gave them solid firepower against German strongpoints. They don't currently exist in the US D-Day book, but I'm working on a Unit Card for them for Battlefront. Hopefully these will be featured soon!

Phil has been busy modulating his tanks, taking full advantage of this brief spell of sun and dry skies to get the job done!

Rob's forces will soon have some support from the RAF!


That about wraps up our first month of the league! So far just Phil and myself have reported some complete units, so if you've got some please let me know so I can update the spreadsheet and get you closer to some rewards! Also, stay tuned for a hobby event coming up in September as we organize some mandatory social interaction :)

It's been a while since we had an update, but things have kept charging forward! We had no fewer than three FoW games played in the last couple of weeks using our growing Hobby League armies! Brent's British took on some T-34s and came out victorious. Ian and Rob played a game with their league forces, and Pat and I got a pair of games as well! Here's some of the photos we got sent in. Flames of War Hobby League - Week 7

Welcome to week 7 of the EI Hobby League! This has been a light week for progress photos, so we'll keep it short. But we're going to soon be ready for a club day out, so be prepared! Mike's US Rangers All I was able to get done this week was another cavalry patrol. I might end up making a formation out of these before too long! Patrick's German Assault Guns Patrick's made some progress on his Panzer IVs this week: Phil's German Panzers Rather than work on Hobby League stuff, Phil has crafted himself a post-apocolyptic self-defence weapon instead, though he claims its to help him spray an entire formation in one go! He's also done a little more work on his Tiger. Rob's British Rifle Company Rob's finished his aircraft and has made a little more progress through his infantry, and an "odd" platoon of some late 75mm Shermans. That's if for this week! Flames of War Hobby League - Week 5

As the hobby league rolls into week 5, many of us have completed the first batch of 50 points, so that's a huge milestone! The next one is an easy 75 points total, so only 25 more points, followed by another 25 after that! With so many of us finishing up our 50 points, we should start thinking about running a small event to show off our progress. I'll post up a topic in the facebook group to start that ball rolling.
